That late, late goal from Paris St Germain turned this second leg on its head with Chelsea facing a two goal deficit. They are odds-on to win the match but their perceived paucity of striking options sees them chalked up at around 3/1 to progress and Mourinho has described the task of progressing as 'an almost impossible job'.
The only previous time that these sides have met in this tournament at Stamford Bridge the game ended goalless in the group stage with Chelsea having already qualified (PSG finished bottom) and it's difficult to envisage this game ending with the same scoreline.
PSG, who have lost just once in Ligue 1, have recorded impressive victories away from home at Olympiakos, Anderlecht and Leverkusen in this tournament but they did lose at Benfica which offers a glimmer of hope for the London outfit as does the absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Blues could be missing several key players with Eto'o and Schurrle both injury doubts and Ramires suspended but they should still be able to cause PSG some problems with the midfield trio of Hazard, Willian and Oscar key to breaking down a team that looks certain to play on the break.
Chelsea have come up short against Aston Villa and Crystal Palace in recent weeks but they appear able to raise their game for the bigger matches and it's tempting to take a chance on 2-0 and 3-1 correct scorelines rather than simply backing them to win in 90 minutes or to progress.
However, PSG haven't conceded three goals all season and are undeniably dangerous up front, even in the absence of Ibrahimovic, and this may prove to be a step too far for Mourinho's men.
The other tie sees Real Madrid take a 3-0 lead to Borussia Dortmund having scored two goals or more in their tenth consecutive Champions League match.
The Germans knocked out Madrid at the semi-final stage last season (as well as beating them in the Group stages) and have a fit-again Robert Lewandowski to lead the attack but they aren't quite in the same form having won just four of their last 12 home games.
Madrid should prove too strong and the odds against about Los Blancos winning in 90 minutes is tempting but Dortmund are unlikely to go down without a fight and should be able to get on the scoresheet.
Lewandowski has a terrific scoring record against Madrid, netting five times in the two home games last season, and the Pole, who is set to join Bayern Munich in the summer, has notched six times in eight games in the current tournament and appeals at a standout 9/4 with Ladbrokes to score at anytime.
